AS OUR YOUNG LEARNERS START THEIR EXCITING FORMAL LEARNING ADVENTURE,

We support them every step of the way. At Briagolong Primary School, Prep and Year 1 students start their first years of schooling in our warm and inviting Red Brick Building. We believe that for effective learning to occur students must feel happy and safe in their education setting.  We work hard to earn the confidence of our students and parents, and the relationships are evident when you spend time here. We warmly welcome diversity and ensure our students feel supported and a strong sense of belonging.

Junior years at Briagolong Primary School focus on establishing a strong foundation in numeracy and literacy, as well as fostering their intellectual, physical and social development through participation in co-curricular programs appropriate for their divers needs and abilities. Our boys and girls are busy, challenged and engaged. They are encouraged to follow School and classroom values through rewards system that is focused on positive reinforcement and the personal satisfaction of ambition, integrity, and resilience.

As part of developing a love of learning and lifelong learners, our Junior Students are involved in the following programs:

  • Strong Reading Program developing a culture of reading for enjoyment and purpose

  • Stimulating Numeracy Program

  • Developing passionate writers through the Seven Steps to Writing and VCOP approach

  • Integrated Studies where learners are encouraged to explore and develop meaning of their world through challenge and inquiry.

  • Engaging in our all-year running Music and ART program. Students have multiple exposures to learning the ARTS through in-school and out-of-school learning experiences. Students are involved in the script development and performance of our biannual School Production

  • Learning, controlling and applying movement through our all-year running Physical Education Program. Students are involved in interschool events such as Cross country, Athletics and prepare to participate in Winter Sport for years 3-6

  • Have ownership in our Kitchen and Gardening Program where students choose, plant and maintain their own vegetable garden. Produce is utilised by the students for authentic cuisine sessions where students are introduced and develop safe cooking skills.
